Project Proposal
From the class lectures, discussions and activities performed in the past two weeks, we are expected to have a clear idea on how to design, implement and evaluate a user interface. For
this semester’s HCI project, each group will have to design a particular interactive
system/application/product. The project may aim to replace or update an established system, or it may aim to
develop a totally innovative product with no obvious precedent. The project phases will
reflect the stages of interaction design process, and submitted as project deliverable throughout
the semester.
Problem Statement
1. Fogged Up Glasses
Up until now, glasses lenses were very problematic when it comes to hot or cold conditions. Having glasses fog up in cold is very annoying. This can also pose danger in some indoor or outdoor activities due to limited sight. Many people with glasses can surely relate to this. Going from a cool air-conditioned environment to a place with higher temperature, and your glasses starts to fog up so you can barely see through them. It took a couple of minutes for the glasses to clear out, depending on the fog’s intensity.
2. Make and Seeing In the Dark Are Difficult
Light is crucial for vision. It is hard to see and do things in the dark. For instance, light beam from street lamps, reflections from shop windows often compromise visibility. This causes many people to feel unsafe and making them less keen on being outdoors at night. Drivers may have trouble perceiving and quickly reacting to unexpected events, especially at night. Human eyes are terrible in seeing at night with depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to distinguish diminished colors. There are no glasses designed specifically for both day and night vision. Some people find that wearing glasses with a slight amber or yellow tint can be helpful with reducing glare at night, but they will not eliminate the problem entirely. Up until now, existing product lack the features that would help people to see in dark conditions.

Whether it is one of our parents who forgot their reading glasses at a restaurant or a friend struggling to read the small print on the back of a medicine bottle just because they lost their glasses. Losing your glasses can be stressful and may be a huge time waste to find it. Until now, looking for lost glasses was very problematic and sometimes impossible without completely destroying the place. If you are lucky, you will find it eventually, but if you do not, you will have no choice but to acquire a new pair, which can be expensive.
4.Limited Activity
Doing any kind of sports is so much more difficult. There is really nothing worse than your glasses slipping down your face when you are working on a computer, reading a book, running or driving, then having to press your index finger against your specs every time. Relying on glasses essentially limits your activity. It can be hard to run and play if your eyewear is constantly, slipping down your nose when you sweat. Well fitted glasses generally do not do this. However for some people, it seems like no matter how well fitted the glasses are, they still find themselves pushing their glasses up every few minutes. This is not a deal breaker for most people, but it is certainly an annoying occurrence.
Proposed Solution
1. Fogged Up Glasses
Once you understand why the fogging is happening, solving the issue becomes an important goal. The step in preventing fogging would be to use a temperature detector on the lenses. A temperature detector prevents the fog from sticking to the lenses by balancing the temperature and humidity of surroundings. This prevents moist air from coming in contact with cold lenses. With iSmart, you should be able to prevent the fogging from happening in the first place. The glasses have temperature detector, and is able to clear up fog on the surface of the glass.

It creates a balance that lifts your glasses off your nose which prevents the pressure that causes nose dents, marks, discomfort, and keeps your glasses from slipping. This concept can resolve the difficulties while doing activities and make the existing products even more applicable and useful. This technology will promotes convenience to the user instead of they have to tie a ribbon around their head just to keep their glasses from falling off.

The intended purpose of iSmart would be the hands-free displaying of information currently available to most smartphones’ users, and allowing for interaction with information via usage of iSmart. The information will appear as a notification or pop-ups that will show all the information required by user. Users can interact by clicking on buttons which resides on edge of frame.
Moreover, iSmart is built to support wearer eyesight by implementing other features that would cater for the well being of users. Those features are identified as solution for problems that most of spectacle wearers are facing. In addition, some of the features are added for iSmart as it can be enjoyable and fun to use. Thus, would help users in their daily routine and most importantly improve quality of life through use of iSmart.

iSmart are designed to be hands free wearable device. By pairing smartphone to iSmart, iSmart acts as a Bluetooth headset for smartphone which can be used to receive calls and texts. So, a speaker is also designed by ear for precise and clarity of sound.
2. iSmart visual perception can be adjust.
A rolling ball on the side of the frame sophisticates the glasses to work with physical touch input. It can be use manipulate the frame of iSmart according to users’ appropriateness.
3. iSmart can be tracked and track routes using GPS systems
Since it’s built with a GPS chip it can be tracked by miles if its lost or stolen with a smartphone app. iSmart enable users to navigate. This will take away the need to look down at smartphone and it will be especially handy when driving or walking through crowded streets.
4. iSmart intuitive optic technology which fix sight impairs.
iSmart intelligent lenses can detect a change in temperature and amount of light it receives. If it’s too foggy in cold outside it will help to get the temperature right or if certain areas have absence of light it will illuminate the lenses automatically.

The creative people or artists who do unique things can be included to use the glass for their creative innovations. The scope of digital art can be incorporated to iSmart for more innovative ideas. The executives, the business people whom we relate to their Bluetooth headsets always wanted better communication on the move and iSmart can offer more connectivity and productivity, for that more information are available to them through iSmart.
Adventure enthusiasts and travelers are another target market as these people would love to be connected on the move. Also, opportunities to seeing the most important moments in a crystalclear view, capturing unexpected frames which are priceless. It can also do another important job for travelers - “navigation”. The backing of routing and map applications helps to form a brilliant base to help the travelers.
These people who will be looking for unique and sophisticated gadgets should be convinced that iSmart will be a fit to their lifestyle.
