a) In your opinion, which type of interface and interaction types
are the most suitable for kids, and give explanation why you think so. (3m)
·
Information Visualizer – To
make it more attarctive
·
Tangible – To make it very
easy to use and convenient
·
Speech Recognition – To
guide the user how to use the atm machine. User friendly
b) Sketch the interface designs for the ATM with your chosen
interface type. All of these functions must be included in the user interface,
but they do not all need to be included in one sketch. Make sure it is clear in
your sketches showing its main functionality and how the user use the interface
to execute the functions. Describe the scenario of how the ATM
Machine would be operated using your chosen interfaces? (10m)
·
Firstly, user enter the atm
capsule. Just only one person can enter in the atm capsule
·
Then user will insert atm
card and then automatically the door will closed/lock for security
·
User will insert the pin
No. The operator/sound will guide user and then user need to choose the
language first before proceed the next phase
·
After then, atm screen will
show various of transaction type like Withdrawal money, Balance Enquiry, Deposit
·
If user choose the
withdrawal money, the atm screen will show a few option for user to withdraw
money. A few option will show like RM1, RM5, RM10 and RM15 only. User only can
withdraw with the following amount only
·
Withdrawal up to RM15, limit
of once a day only
·
User will choose the amount
and then the atm card will comes first follow by money. The money will comes
from the cash dispenser. User need to take the money before 60 second
·
After user take the money
and card then the door will automatically unlock. If user did not take the
money and card, the door will remain unlock. This is because to secure user
safety
·
If someone or stranger
approach the user, user can just press the emergency button and then the door
will automatically lock/closed for protect the user
c) Briefly describe the advantages and disadvantages of your
design. (5m)
Advantages
·
Customize ATM interface
I.
Multiple touch-screen
displays on the ATM use vibrant colour and video capability to deliver messages
based on how the kids is engaging with the ATM using information visualization.
The main purpose of this scenario is to provide graphical interface to the kids
for them to perform the action themselves and provide a better user experience.
·
Interactive and User
Friendly
II.
The ATM enables kids to
perform financial transactions like cash withdrawal or check balances with the
help of the machine and without any intervention from the parents or others. A
speech recognition system is developed for ATMs for performing financial
transactions. Since speech is the most natural and easiest mode of
communication, communication between the kids and the ATM can be performed
easily through speech. This allows ATM machines to communicate with the kids
using the stored speech samples. By using information visualization, the kids
can get an idea on how to perform task for example on how to withdrawing money
and then interpret the actions, so that they can easily integrate themselves
into the current environment.
·
Implementation of
Advanced Security Controls
III.
Kids can enjoy greater
peace of mind using ATs with security features built into this ATM. Banks have
long protected ATM with surveillance cameras, but in today’s world, threats
from strangers are invisible. In order to eradicate these types of
deficiencies, alarms and sensors will detect physical attacks on the ATM. Kids
are safe inside the ATM until they finish collecting their cash. The ATM will
be open once the transactions are completed by simply extending the length of
the ATM door to be open until the kids are totally ready to get out until their
ATM cards and their money are safely kept in the pocket.
Disadvantages
·
Chances of Get Trapped
inside the ATM is high
I.
On many occasions sometimes
user forget their passwords. Forgetting passwords sometimes create a problem of
not performing a required transaction and inputting wrong password will likely
lead to locking of the card. Forgetfulness of ATM cards at the point of
transaction will always yield no transactions and negative results. In this
case, the ATM will lock both the door and card of the kids for a length of
time. The number of wrong input of password is limited. This is because any
other person who knows a common password of another can easily use the kid’s
ATM card. The chance for the kid’s to trap inside is very high if they really do
not remember their ATM password. They will need to wait for the security or person
in charge to take care of the matters and might take some time to ensure the
security.
·
Upfront costs
II.
The investment in ATM and
possibly additional hardware might be required to make the information
visualization and speech recognition possible.
Implementing and managing a visualized environment will require IT staff
with expertise in visualization. There are maybe some applications that do not
adapt well to the visualized environment.
d) Decide where is the ATM machine will be located and why do you think
so? (2m)
·
We decide to locate the ATM machine for kids at playground
and mall (public places). We think these two places are very suitable to
locate the ATM machine. If we locate the ATM machine at playground kids can
withdraw their money during their playtime. Other than that, if we locate at
mall, kids can withdraw their money if they want to buy something like toys,
sweet and other. Therefore, kids can buy anything that they want without asking
money from their parent. Besides that, if we put the ATM machine at public
place, it can secure kids safety when withdrawing money because at
public place everyone can see when they withdraw the money. It also can avoid
from undesirable things like robbery, theft and other things.
