What is persuasive technology?
Persuasive technology is broadly
defined as
technology that
is designed to change attitudes or behaviours of
the users through persuasion and social influence, but not through coercion. Such technologies are regularly
used in sales, diplomacy, politics, religion, military training, public health,
and management, and may potentially be used in any area of human-human or
human-computer interaction. Most self-identified persuasive
technology research focuses on interactive, computational technologies.
What
is Hybrid cars?
Hybrid cars is different
from ordinary electric vehicles that ran from plug-in batteries. Basically, a hybrid car is one that
uses two or more engines. i.e. an electric motor and a conventional engine
(either petrol or diesel). The electric
engine powers the car at lower speeds and gas engine powers it at higher speeds.
Hybrid car offers two distinct advantages:
1. Better
overall fuel economy.
2. Greater
environmental benefit
Here are few of the disadvantages of a hybrid cars :
1. Less
power.
2. Can be Expensive.
3. Higher
Maintenance Costs
Consumer
Attitudes Towards Hybrid
cars
As in
recent years, the number of consumers purchasing hybrid cars shows an
incremental
trend in worldwide. Maichum et al.
(2010) found
that consumer attitude can significantly
have a positive effect upon their
purchase intention for environmentally friendly products.
These consumers are
very concerned about air pollution, climate change, and the
environment,
which nurtures positive attitudes towards environmental issues.
Most people are now realizing the
benefits provides by hybrid cars which will help the driver
to reduce their
carbon footprint and to reduce
their CO2 emission. The concerned for green
environment indirectly will increase the sales of hybrid cars since the environmental
problems are now becoming global issue.
